Reiki Healing

A gentle energy healing technique that originated in Japan. It supports relaxation, emotional balance, and healing by working with the body's natural energy.

Common Questions About Reiki Healing

Here are some common questions people ask before their first Reiki session.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a gentle form of energy healing that works with your body’s natural ability to restore balance.

Through light, hands-on or hands-off touch, Reiki channels universal life energy to where it’s needed most. Helping you relax deeply, release tension, and support your physical and emotional well-being.

It’s non-invasive, soothing, and can complement any existing self-care or wellness practice.

How does Reiki work?

Reiki works by gently rebalancing your body’s natural flow of energy.

When stress, fatigue, or emotional strain build up, your energy can feel blocked or scattered. Reiki helps clear these blockages so that your life force energy can move freely again, supporting your body’s innate ability to restore itself on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels.

Most people describe feeling calmer, lighter, and more centered after a session, as their nervous system shifts into a deep state of rest and repair.

What kind of issues can Reiki help with in daily life?

Reiki can support you through many everyday challenges, whether physical, emotional, or energetic.

It may help with:

  • Stress and anxiety
  • Work burnout
  • Difficulty falling asleep
  • Emotional overwhelm
  • Feeling “stuck” or disconnected
  • Physical tension or chronic fatigue
Each person’s experience is unique. Some people notice they feel calmer and lighter, while others experience emotional clarity or physical relief that unfolds over the days following a session.
Do I need to believe in Reiki for it to work?

Not at all. Many people come to Reiki simply out of curiosity, not belief. You don’t need to believe in energy for it to flow. Reiki works naturally with your body’s own healing systems, whether you’re spiritual, skeptical, or just exploring.

Most first-time clients come with an open mind and often leave feeling calmer, lighter, or more at ease than they expected.

Is there any touch involved?

Reiki can be practiced either with light, respectful touch (hands placed gently on the body) or completely hands-off, where the practitioner hovers their hands just above the body.

In my sessions, I typically work hands-off, allowing the energy to flow while maintaining a comfortable and relaxing space for you.

How many sessions do I need?

This really depends on what you’re seeking support for. Some people feel a noticeable shift after just one session, while others choose to receive Reiki regularly, weekly, monthly, or as needed, to maintain balance and continue deepening their sense of well-being.

It’s entirely up to you and what feels right for your body and energy at that moment.

Is Reiki a replacement for going to a doctor or therapist?

No. Reiki is complementary. It works with, not instead of, medical or therapeutic care. Reiki does not diagnose or prescribe.

Many people receive Reiki as part of a broader wellness approach, supporting their healing journey while continuing with therapy, medication, or other treatments recommended by their healthcare professionals.

Can Reiki be done for pets or homes?

Yes, absolutely. Animals respond beautifully to Reiki, especially anxious pets living in high-rise flats or going through big changes. Reiki helps them feel calmer and more balanced.

I also offer space clearing for HDBs, condos, and offices. Over time, places can hold onto energetic residue from stress, conflict, or illness. A Reiki space cleanse helps refresh and rebalance the environment, creating a lighter, more peaceful atmosphere.

Are there side effects?

Reiki is very gentle, but as your body clears old energy and releases tension, you may notice temporary changes as part of the healing process.

Some people experience mild physical symptoms, such as headache, sore throat, fatigue, or digestive changes. Others may notice emotional release, such as waves of sadness, anger, or a sudden sense of clarity or forgiveness. This is sometimes called a "healing response" and is simply your body rebalancing itself.

It usually passes quickly, and the best way to support your system is by resting, staying hydrated, and giving yourself space to integrate the healing.

Is Reiki a religious practice?

No. Reiki is not tied to any religion or spiritual belief system. It is a holistic wellness practice that supports your emotional, physical, and energetic well-being.

In multicultural Singapore, people from all faiths and backgrounds have comfortably received Reiki and found it to be a gentle, grounding way to reconnect with themselves.
